In fact, the percentage of high-risk residents in California nursing homes who have one or more bedsores is 19 percent, which is greater than the national average of 11 percent.

Bedsores, Pressure Sores also known as Decubitus Ulcers set in when a patient is not moved often enough and bones push through areas of soft skin and will expose muscle and bone causing infection and sometimes death.

Nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities and long term care and assisted living must watch elders and dependant adults to make sure they are receiving the care that they deserve.
