Signs of Elder Abuse

In the 80s and 90s much of the research concluded that the abuse came largely from caregiver stress. Today we know that caregiver stress is not an excuse to lash out at someone and that most of the time caregiver stress is just an excuse to avoid taking responsibility for their actions.

While elder abuse may take various forms, there are usually signs to look for such as obvious marks on body, poor hygiene, STDs, and missing money / large unexplained withdrawals from the older adult’s bank account.
