Intentional Understaffing at Sacramento Nursing Homes

Intentional Understaffing at Sacramento Nursing Homes

In a recent class action lawsuit, Roseville Point Health & Wellness Center near Sacramento and 14 other nursing homes across southern California have allegedly understaffed their nursing homes to save money.

A resident at the facility stated that the homes constantly are understaffed in an effort to keep extra profits.

Under staffing may lead to nursing home abuse or neglect.

While understaffing at a place such as a restaurant can be frustrating, understaffing at a nursing home can be dangerous and even deadly due to elder neglect.

For example, if someone needs to be attended 3 times a day to ensure their condition is taken care of, and there aren’t enough staff, the elderly person may fall into illness, disease, and even death depending on their condition.

It’s a downright violation of the rights of each of the residents at the nursing homes. Under state law staffing requirements now require enough staff to provide at least 3.5 hours of caretaking per day for each patient.

This isn’t the first time the Roseville Point Health & Wellness Center has been under scrutiny though. This and other facilities owned by Shlomo Rechnitz have been a target of scrutiny by the police, multiple lawsuits, fines and investigations that have uncovered many other violations.
