BEDSORES ARE LIFE THREATENING
The Peck Law Group is the world leader in litigation of the rights of elders and / dependent adults to be free from Nursing Home Abuse including physical abuse and neglect. One of the major issues which we encounter over and over again is the failure of the Nursing Home to prevent Bedsores, Pressure Ulcers also known as Decubitus Ulcers.
Bedsores are common among the people who are paralyzed, aged, and who are also bedridden or may be handicapped. Bedsores are lesions or wounds caused due to the lack of movement which cause constant pressure on a particular area on the skin. If not treated on time, it can take the shape of ulcer resulting in itching, inflammation, and infection, including sepsis, on the affected area, which all cause further life-threatening situations
There are four stages of Bedsores from Stage I to Stage IV. Stage IV Bed Sores are very serious wounds. These wounds are open to the bone, and will become infected as the elder / dependent adult is totally reliant on others to turn and keep pressure of their bony prominence areas. In many instances the Bed Sores also known as Pressure Ulcer and Decubitus Ulcers become infected causing sepsis, an infection of the blood, and many time result in untimely and unwarranted death.
