law-firm-blog-headlinesTypes of Catastrophic Injuries

Since catastrophic injuries are any kind of personal injury that severely effects physical or mental activity, there are many different types, with some being more serious than others. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common catastrophic injury effecting approximately 1.7 million people every year, according to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and responsible for 30% of all injury related fatalities in the United States.

Injuries to the back or spinal cord can also be severe and cause lifelong immobility like paraplegia and quadriplegia. Paralysis of limbs and loss of motor functions are frequently attributed to spinal cord injuries.

Other types of catastrophic injuries include:

  • Nerve Damage

  • Severe Burns

  • Loss of Limbs

  • Concussion

  • Severe Fractures

  • Internal Organ Damage

  • Blindness
