Peck Law Group: Palm Springs Bedsore Lawyers

BEDSORES ARE LIFE THREATENING

The Peck Law Group is the world leader in litigation of the rights of elders and / dependent adults to be free from Nursing Home Abuse including physical abuse and neglect.  One of the major issues which we encounter over and over again is the failure of the Nursing Home to prevent Bedsores, Pressure Ulcers also known as Decubitus Ulcers.

Bedsores are common among the people who are paralyzed, aged,  and who are also bedridden or may be handicapped. Bedsores are lesions or wounds caused due to the lack of movement which cause constant pressure on a particular area on the skin. If not treated on time, it can take the shape of ulcer resulting in itching, inflammation, and infection, including sepsis, on the affected area, which all cause further  life-threatening situations

There are four stages of Bedsores from Stage I to Stage IV.  Stage IV Bed Sores are very serious wounds. These wounds are open to the bone, and will become infected as the elder /  dependent adult is totally reliant on others to turn and keep pressure of their bony prominence areas.  In many instances the Bed Sores also known as Pressure Ulcer and Decubitus Ulcers become infected causing sepsis, an infection of the blood, and many time result in untimely and unwarranted death.

Sexual Abuse in California Nursing Homes

nursing home sexual abuse in california

Unfortunately sexual abuse in nursing homes is a shocking reality that becomes more and more prevalent each year in California. The elderly come to California nursing homes hoping to be cared for and rely on the caretakers at these nursing homes – sometimes completely. Some seniors can’t walk, some can’t talk, and the very people that are supposed to be taking care of them are performing the unspeakable.

Signs of Sexual Abuse in Nursing Homes

Although it may be hard to tell if your elderly loved one is being sexually abused by their caretakers, there are oftentimes emotional and physical signs of abuse that you can look for.

The physical abuse signs include:

  • Markings on the body such as bruises or cuts
  • Medication over-dosage
  • Bleeding near their genital area
  • Bloody clothing and/or bedding
  • STDs

The emotional abuse signs include:

  • Not wanting to be alone
  • Rapid changes in the elderly person’s personality
  • Stress & anxiety, especially when around the caretaker
  • Fear, withdrawal, and frequent unexplained crying

When visiting your loved one at a nursing home be aware of your surroundings. Are the caretakers not allowing you to visit your elder loved one?  When they do allow you to visit are they lingering around?

Mother of Michael Jackson Accuses Nephew of Elder Abuse

elder abuse and neglect news in California

Katherine Jackson, the mother of Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson, filed a restraining order due to elder abuse against her nephew Trent Lamar Jackson on Wednesday, claiming that she had been an ongoing victim of abuse.

Trent had made himself the sole care-giver for Katherine “in order to control her every move”. According to Katherine, Trent has threatened not to take her home if she didn’t comply with his demands, he’s kept her out of contact from friends and family, and has refused to take her back home when travelling.Katherine had been experiencing emotional symptoms of abuse including depression, anxiety, and fear due to this.

Constant emotional abuse kept Katherine Jackson confused as to what exactly was happening her, a calculated step by Trent to ensure he could control the Jackson’s finances and get free room and board at all times.

At this time Trent Jackson must return everything from her property and stop using their financial accounts. He was also ordered to stay 100 yards from Katherine’s property.

Their court date is March 1st, 2017 where a judge will hear the Jackson’s elder abuse claims.
