Traumatic Brain Injury May Be Caused by The Impact Related to Severe and Catastrophic Injury says California Personal Injury Attorney Steven Peck

Brain injuries are injuries to the brain or skull caused by an external force such as a strike or impact that can result in permanent disability.

In the State of California an average of 450 incidents of traumatic brain injury occur daily, resulting in emergency room treatment or inpatient hospitalization. A total of 180,000 Californians are injured annually says California personal Injury lawyer Steven Peck of the Peck Law Group.

“Brain injuries can cause serious, long-lasting problems, but can be avoided by following basic prevention techniques,” says Attorney Peck “Following safety rules and wearing a helmet when participating in a contact sport or riding a bicycle or motorcycle greatly reduces the risk of brain injury.”

Traumatic Brain injuries are also prevalent and can happen when people are injured due to serious and catastrophic events including automobile and truck accidents.  When catastrophic injury occurs the injured party should have immediate access to quality medical help in order to attempt to mitigate their brain injury damages.

Wrongful Death: Nursing Home Facility

Sepsis is the leading cause of death in critical care patients

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed recently against a large corporate nursing home, long term care facility for abuse and neglect attributable to sepsis,  and e coli infected, fourth degree pressure ulcers, also known as bed sores, which it is alleged caused the wrongful death of the elder.

The suit, which was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleges that the long term care facility severely neglected a 79 year old Alzheimer’s patient and failed to turn the patient on a regular basis, causing the fourth degree bed sores to become severely infected. Additionally, the nursing home is purported to have failed to provide  adequate medical care, which caused the e coli infection to enter this patient’s bloodstream forcing the elder to become septic and to go into septic shock, resulting in the wrongful death of the patient.

Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect lawyer Steven Peck of the Peck Law Group says ” this is the type of neglect that should never happen to any elder and dependent adult in a long term care facility if they are truly watching their patients.”  “The facility has violated the most basic of their own polices and procedures and the patients rights per California Heath and Safety Code 1430(b) who are totally dependent on the facility for their care.”

Joan Boice, the woman in subject, died just after three months of being placed in the Auburn assisted living facility. The woman’s children filed the wrongful death and elder abuse lawsuit.
